These Portland Oregon punks take the pre-established pop punk formula of melodies and hooks found in bands like Screeching Weasel and the Methadones and merge that with their hometown heroes the Observers. They're a great band and their 2013 "Nonage" LP is blowing my mind lately. Get into it.

Featured Band of the Week - NANCY
Here's a new feature for the Blog. The Featured band of the week! Weekly, I'll pick a band that I'm stoked on, whether it's an old band or a new band and I'll post a little write up on them and a link to their bandcamp or other site of that variety where you can get their music legitimately. Sorry, can't post downloads, because this is connected to a radio show on a community radio station.
This week's featured band is Long Island NY's mutant pop punk maniacs NANCY.
Hailing from the Island that gave us bands like Kill Your Idols, Heads Vs Breakers, Crime in Stereo, Latterman and countless others comes NANCY, playing songs that sound more like Lower East Side Manhattan circa 1975 than Long Island circa now. The record is a crazy ripper of super snotty Ramones meets Dictators style punk that should inspire much pogoing and many sing-a-longs.
